One of the best things about running a rescue centre is when a pet is placed with its Forever Home. A place where they will be loved and cared for 'til the day they die.

Other successes: Pre-2005 / 2005 / 2006 / 2008 / 2009

Spit and Spot (January 2007)

Spit and Spot, born July 2006, weren't the most trusting cats so went to a home with an understanding of Scaredy-Cats.

Buster and Honey (January)

Two bonded does, possibly sisters, despite dissimilar looks. Born August 2004. They moved to a foster for the winter as they hated the outdoor hutch and the rescue dogs upset them. Honey is an outgoing black lionhead lop. Buster is a very timid butterfly dwarf lop. In January the fosters agreed to foster them as house rabbits permanently and they now have free reign of the garden. It was felt unwise to disrupt their lives further through the re-homing scheme, especially since they have always been used to a house environment and because they had forged a strong bond with an older neutered buck called Cuddles.

Chalky (March 2007)

Now living as a houserabbit. Hope to get more news soon.

Snuggles (April 2007)

She is a possible hermaphrodite (both male and female). Born in 2004, she likes a cuddle.

Wilson (April 2007)

He was born in 2004. No picture as yet but looks like Mayo 2. He was being fostered because there was a shortage of room at the centre.

Oddball (April 2007)

A lionhead cross, born January 2006. He was either born with one testicle or has retained one. His teeth aren't great and a watch need to be kept to see it doesn't become malocclusion.

Lady (April 2007)

Born in 2002. She's fussy about the people she nips, she loves to taste some people but is a total sweetheart with others. After her original owner died, a lovely family tried introducing her to their bun but they fought, so she came to us. Now the original bunny has died, Lady has returned to the family.

Lenny and Matilda (April 2007)

Born 2004. They always lived together, sharing a garden with Jack and Millie (the mum). Matilda is more reserved. Lenny is a neutered black dwarf lop. Matilda is sooty fawn.

Beauty (May 2007)

A rex cross doe, born 2004. She didn't get on with her partner so became available for re-homing.

Coco (June 2007)

Born in 2004. He's a neutered male that needs a friend. He was very friendly once you caught him but avoided being caught very well. Had to be re-homed due to owner's illness. Found a lovely home but unfortunately passed away from an abscess in September 2007.

Peanut (June 2007)

Born July 2006. She's a very friendly and attractive example of a broken butterfly fawn doe.

Smoky (June 2007)

Has gone to live with Sam and Bob to help keep an old lop doe, called Girly, company. Born mid 2003, he's a Netherland cross. He's prone to infection so must be watched for cuts or sores but is very friendly and active.

Parker (June 2007)

A lovely polecat coloured ferret. He loved walks and plays with the boy next-door. Very friendly.

Georgia and Fizz (June 2007)

Two lionhead babies. Mum came to us pregnant.

Freya (August 2007)

Freya (was Sophie) got on so well with Willow, a buck boarding at Killay Pet Shop, she went home with him, after a spaying. She's a blue-and-white lionhead cross, born mid-2006. She has a shrunken tear duct so occasionally gets runny eye.

Owner's Update:

"Thank you [Killay Pet Shop] for looking after Willow and for helping find him a friend. Freya has settled well and she’s really sweet. They’re so cute when they play in the garden and I love watching them.

Thanks again, Gwen"

Grace

Owner's update:

"We took on Grace (a biscuit coloured lionhead) as a friend for Graham, our Dutch rabbit. They are now living together very happily in their new larger cage and have free run of the garden. We had a few teething problems, mostly Graham was a little too impressed with his new friend."

"There was one big hiccup about 3 weeks after Grace arrived when she ran into the side of her run when we were putting her into her cage one night. Following a five day stay at the vets, many tears and hand feeding, she made a full recovery and a very healthy dent in our bank balance. Despite this she is very much a part of the family and loved by all."

Many thanks: Louise, Henry, Eve, Graham and Grace

Gem (January 2008)

Owner's Update:

"Just to let you know Gem has settled in perfectly. What a dog! Where do I start? On the first night back we showed Gem the house from top to bottom which she sniffed all over. She ate her tea and then she acted like she`d been here for years. Going up stairs checking things out, watching us put Sinead (baby) to bed and then sitting with me and Sam on the couch whilst we watched TV. Took her for a walk before bed and she`s so good on the lead, except when a car/van passes then she`s spooked and sidesteps away. If she sees the car coming, she hides in a gate hole while it passes; it`s quite funny! Her first night she never made a sound.

She`s grown in confidence with us and gets on with us all, even the little one. Gem will lay with her on her bed. Gave her a bath yesterday, she stood there, never moved or made a sound until I`d finished. When I took her out of the bath she ran round the house in excitement. Sam loves her but it`s me Gem follows like a shadow. If I go out to the shop or in the car she sits at the door and cries until I get back then she jumps about, wagging her tail; something which never stops moving.

We go for a walk every morning and before we go to bed. She knows when I get my coat what's happening. She a fast learner and adorable, she's great. Thanks for giving us such a fantastic and lovable dog."
